a month's worth

it's been a long time since i posted anything. there have been many nights when i've lain in bed, thinking of things that would be worth a blog. of course i don't remember anything when i wake up.
i read in a 'Creating Resume' type book that fonts with serifs are easier to read. fonts like this. with the little dash-like doohickies on the ends of the letters (aka serifs). that's why the vast majority of books are published with these fonts.

have you ever looked in the back of a book to see what the font was named? i believe that mostly the more-recently published books, (as in, perhaps on the market in the past ten years) have a page at the end that says the font name and sometimes the creator of the font. lots of them have really whacky names, you should really check that out sometime. it's nice that the creator gets credit, in case you read a book that didn't wow you, but the whole time you thought, MAN, I really dig this font!
which is perhaps why i like to use sans-serif fonts online. it's my subtly controlling way to make readers take a millisecond more time to concentrate on what they're reading. i like it when people pay attention to me. sometimes.
--also why i don't use sans-serif fonts for papers and such. that way, i like to think that by using serif fonts, professors/critics/potential employers will NOT take as much time, perhaps allowing them to skim over small mistakes. remember that, if you're still writing papers or things that get critiqued; Arial is great for taking up more space, but may minutely be harder for your critiquer to read, subconsciously giving him or her a negative feel when reading your work.
i'm just here to help, folks. donations can be sent to the address at the bottom of your screen.
that's the job i should have. i should be paid to give advice. like Dear Abby, but i'd be dear Gabby. not just for the 'G,' but also for other implications. it'd be the advice column that you'd use when you wanted a question answered in 1,000 words or more. plus some tips on how to freshen your closet, unique ways to coordinate socks with outfits, and how to be a man and feel comfortable wearing an "outfit."
i don't know why i think that i need a specific topic before i sit down in front of a computer. clearly, i do just fine without one.
